About Brasov


Brașov, one of the most visited town by tourists, is located almost in the center of the country and surrounded by the Carpathian Mountains and is the 7th largest city in Romania with a population of 283.901.

A city with an over 700-year attested history, lies at the foot of Mount Tâmpa. Brașov offers an ideal blend between the natural landscape and the charming medieval architecture. Brasov exudes a distinct medieval ambiance, the buildings in the old city center have preserved the city’s cultural heritage: the Gothic style combines with Classic, Renaissance, Baroque, Art Nouveau and with elements of the Brâncoveanu style, all of which is imprinted on the city’s personality.

In the towns around the city of Brasov, there are about 10 fortified churches, two of which, Prejmer and Viscri, are classified as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Not far from the city, only 12 kilometers away, is the largest ski resort in Romania, Poiana Brașov and, about 30 kilometers away is the Bran Castel, commonly associated with the legend of Dracula.
