INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
ETHICAL VALUES IN NOWADAY SOCIETY
THE CHALLENGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MODERN SOCIETY

VESA

24-25 SEPTEMBER 2026 (the 6th edition)

Brașov, Romania

In the current context of technological development, as Artificial Intelligence (AI) becomes part of our daily lives, the use of information provided by AI programs can give rise to a new paradigm for an ethical approach.

Quality education—a key component of the social pillar—is a central theme of the conference, including from an ethical perspective, in the context of current technological developments. Aiming at a sustainable and high-quality approach to education and research in higher education, ethics requires inter-institutional connections, both at the national level, through ministerial advisory councils— the Council for Ethics and University Management (CEMU) and the National Council for Ethics in Scientific Research, Technological Development, and Innovation (CNECSTDI)— as well as at the level of higher education institutions, through the work of university ethics committees.

Regardless of the field of activity, it is clear today that artificial intelligence is omnipresent—from the way we obtain information, whether as ordinary citizens or as employees, pupils, or students, to the way certain decisions are made that have economic and legal consequences. In this context, and given that children and students are the primary users of technology apps, it is no surprise that artificial intelligence has made its way into schools and universities and is even being officially used in the educational process. The impact of AI on our education, training, and research systems is undeniable and continues to grow; for this reason, it is necessary to have in place the legal and technical tools to detect, investigate, and sanction the abusive and even illegal use of AI—such as presenting a paper generated by AI as one’s own work—when legal and moral boundaries are crossed.

In this context, the conference organizers hope that, through an interdisciplinary scientific approach, the discussions and research on ethics will facilitate the exchange of ideas and best practices among participants across institutions. Through the workshop focused on issues specific to university ethics committees—including the identification of best practices for detecting and sanctioning the illegal and unethical use of AI in teaching and research—the aim is to identify practical, viable solutions, including from a legal perspective.

Through the partnership with ProUniversitaria and Universul Juridic, the dissemination of scientific research is ensured, and articles will be published in the journal ”Ethics and Deontology”, now in its sixth year of publication..

The conference will be hosted by Transilvania University of Brașov on 24-25 September 2026.

We look forward to seeing you at the conference!

From the Organizing Committee,
Liliana ROGOZEA
President of the VESA Conference
